The City of Camas is accepting applications for a library trustee until 5 p.m., December 5, 2011.
Application forms and information are available at the Camas Public Library (625 NE Fourth Ave.), Camas City Hall, or online here.
The open position is for a one-year appointment which will begin in January 2012.
A library trustee’s duties include advising the mayor and council on library issues, adopting library policy, helping to define library services, and advocating for libraries and free access. Meetings are held monthly. Applicants must be Camas city residents.
Applications will be reviewed and applicants interviewed by a committee. Interview questions will include background questions such as “why would you like to be a trustee?” and hypothetical questions about library issues and services such as “given the state of the budget, what services should not be curtailed and why?” The questions asked are to ascertain a candidate’s approach to problem solving, knowledge of library services, and ability to work with an established team.
The committee will make a recommendation to Mayor Scott Higgins, who will make the appointment.
